Marlborough Transfer Station on Quinn Road is the town’s place to drop off household trash and recyclables before they get compacted and trucked away. Locals swing by with anything from a car load to a small trailer; it’s a working yard rather than a neat storefront. Because Connecticut sends its landfill-bound trash out of state, this is where Marlborough’s loads get processed first.
Drive up to a small entrance booth and queue if there’s a line; there’s usually room to line up before the unloading bays. The site has large compactors and transfer containers, so expect to see trucks and equipment moving material into trailers. Recycling bins or roll-offs are generally set off to one side of the tipping area, while trash gets dumped into larger bays. Weekends and spring cleanup bring the longest waits, so lines can stretch at peak times.
