Frost Bridge Transfer Facility is the small transfer station off Frost Bridge Road that Watertown residents use to drop household trash and recyclables before it’s compacted and sent elsewhere. Locals and people from nearby towns who have transfer station permits tend to use it for weekend cleanouts and regular curbside overflow. It’s practical for anyone not wanting to drive to an out-of-state landfill.
Drive up to an entrance booth and be prepared to stop at a scale; many Connecticut transfer stations charge by weight so vehicles often pass over the scale twice. The site has a few large concrete bays and compactors where trash is pushed and loaded into trucks later on. Recycling and bulky-drop spots are usually grouped inside the compound rather than scattered along the road. Lines form on weekend mornings and during seasonal cleanups, so traffic through the yard can be slow at those times.
