(860) 274-1200Frost Bridge Transfer Facility is the Town of Watertown's transfer station for household trash and recyclables; local residents and small haulers stop here instead of driving out of state to a landfill. It's a working yard with an entrance booth, a scale, and large compactors where loads get crushed and loaded onto outbound trucks.
Drive up to an entrance booth where someone will check that we belong there or that the vehicle is allowed; after that there's usually a short line to get onto the tipping floor. Vehicles pull up to the unloading area or the compactor edge, empty their load, and then back out to the exit scale before leaving. The site is industrial - big concrete pads, fencing, and rows of containers - and weekends or spring cleanup times tend to be busiest.
