Eastford Transfer Station is the town transfer station on Westford Road used by local residents to drop off household trash and recyclables before it gets compacted and trucked out of state. People from Eastford and nearby towns that allow use of the site are the ones who most often show up with carloads and small trailers.
There’s a small attendant booth and a scale near the entrance, so expect to slow down and stop briefly before pulling in. Vehicles pull up to different areas depending on whether it’s regular trash, bulky items, or recycling; compactors and larger trucks are visible toward the back where loads get crushed and loaded out. The site is practical and workmanlike - gravel or paved drive lanes, some fenced sections, and piles or containers for different streams of material. Lines build on weekend mornings and during spring cleanup, so plan for a short wait at busy times.
