Branford Recycling Center & Transfer Station on E Main is where Branford residents and contractors bring recyclables and larger items meant to be diverted from landfills. It’s the town spot for common items like paper, cardboard, glass, metal and typical household recyclables. Connecticut has no active landfills, so transfer stations handle local drop-offs and many towns require permits for use.
Drive in off East Main and there’s an entrance booth with lanes that lead to the drop-off area; pull up and prepare to unload from your vehicle. The recycling containers are usually just past the booth and grouped by material, with bigger roll-offs or bays for bulky stuff. The site isn’t huge - room for cars and pickup trucks but some tight turns and a mix of concrete or gravel pads. Expect lines on weekend mornings and especially during spring cleanup season.
Learn how to properly dispose of common items.
