(203) 483-8641Branford Recycling Center & Transfer Station on E Main St is where Branford residents drop off recyclables and other household materials. Neighbors use it for everything from curbside overflow to clearing out the garage before moving day. It’s the town’s local spot for keeping stuff out of the landfill, with separate spots for common recyclables and a few special programs for bulky or electronic items.
Pull up to the entrance where there’s a small booth and a lane for scale traffic; expect to stop at the booth before proceeding. The recycling bins sit to the right just past the entrance, while transfer areas and larger drop-off zones spread out beyond that - concrete pads, roll-off containers, and a handful of bays. Vehicles are directed by signs and cones; weekends and spring cleanup bring lines and a slow-moving flow. Don’t be surprised by the industrial feel: pavement, compactors, and piles of sorted materials are the visual norm.
