Transfer Station

South Metro Transfer Station

2400 West Union Avenue, Englewood, CO 80110

800-963-4776

A straightforward transfer station where local trash is compacted and hauled out to a landfill elsewhere. Neighbors bring household bags, yard debris and small loads that are easier to drop off here than drive all the way to a distant dump.

Drive up to an entrance booth and be prepared to stop; there’s usually a scale on site so expect to pause again on the way out. The site is big and industrial-looking - concrete tipping floors, large roll-off containers and trucks coming and going. Pull up to the instructed dumping area, toss items into the appropriate container or onto the tipping floor, then back away so the compactors or trucks can do their job. Weekends and spring clean-up times tend to get busier, so lines can form at the gate.

Before You Go

  • Have items sorted before getting to the booth so it’s quicker once instructions are given.
  • Secure loose items in the truck bed or trailer; winds can send light debris everywhere on the tipping floor.
  • Bring gloves and closed-toe shoes - the ground is often gritty and there are sharp edges on some disposal containers.
