Logan County Landfill

24235 East, US-6, Sterling, CO 80751

(970) 522-8657

This is the Logan County Landfill out on US-6 near Sterling, mainly used by residents and haulers from around the county. It's a large, rural landfill where trash gets buried rather than processed on-site. Locals and commercial trucks both bring loads here.

There's a scale house/booth near the entrance and vehicles usually stop to be weighed before heading to the dumping area. The site is spread out with dirt roads and big open cells; expect to drive a short distance from the scale to the active tipping face. Tipping fees are charged based on weight or load type at most landfills like this, and commercial truck deliveries are commonly accepted. Lines can form on busy weekends or during spring clean-up, so plan a bit of extra time.

Before You Go

  • Bring a tarp or secure your load-wind can scatter loose material on the drive in and out.
  • Have a general idea of what’s in your load; separating bulky items at the truck helps speed up unloading and avoids extra trips.
  • Drive slowly on the access roads; dust and washboard surfaces are common on rural landfill entrances.
