Yolo County Central Landfill is the big county dump out on County Road 28H that Woodland residents and haulers use when a load won’t fit in the curbside bin. It’s a large landfill with heavy equipment and long stretches of compacted piles visible from the road. Commercial trucks use it as well as pickups and trailers from around town.
Pull up to an entrance booth and then proceed onto a scale - tipping is handled by weight so there’s usually a stop on the way out too. The site is wide open, dusty at times, with large compactors and dump cells rather than recycling bins stacked neatly. Lines can form, especially on weekend mornings and during spring cleanups, and big roll-off trucks will be moving around so drive carefully and give them room.
