Western Regional Sanitary Landfill in Lincoln is the big local landfill where residential and commercial loads end up for burial. Mostly used by haulers and residents doing cleanouts, it’s a large, industrial site with truck scales and a tipping-fee structure based on weight. Commercial loads are accepted here, so expect both pickup trucks and big roll-offs in the traffic mix.
Drive up to a small entrance booth and be directed toward a scale-there’s usually a weigh-in and then a weigh-out, since charges are by weight. The site is mostly dirt roads, big compacted mounds and heavy equipment moving material around; trailers and garbage trucks are common. Pull-ups for smaller residential loads are shorter, while commercial trucks get routed to larger tipping areas. Lines form on weekends and during spring cleanup, so there can be waits.
Learn how to properly dispose of common items.
