(831) 384-5000This is the Salinas Transfer Station & Recycling Center run by Waste Management, a larger recycling drop-off for residents and small haulers in Salinas. Neighbors bring household recyclables and items they don't want in regular curbside bins. The site is aimed at diverting materials from the landfill and handling common recyclables.
Drive up the entrance lane and you'll pass a small booth and a scale-vehicles are weighed so expect a stop on the way in and again on the way out. The property is industrial in scale with concrete pads, big roll-off containers, and covered areas for different material types; recycling bins are typically grouped past the entrance area. Common items accepted at places like this are paper and cardboard, glass, plastics and metals, and some centers also accept bulky items or special streams like electronics or appliances when offered by the county. Weekends and spring cleanup times get busy, so lines and waiting to unload are normal.
Learn how to properly dispose of common items.
