(866) 909-4458Altamont Landfill & Resource Recovery is the big landfill out on Altamont Pass that handles both household drop-offs and commercial loads. Local contractors and people cleaning out garages or doing yard work use it when there’s no other option for disposal. It’s a sprawling site with the usual heavy equipment and big dirt mounds on the skyline.
There’s a scale near the entrance - the place charges by weight, so expect to stop there and again when leaving. A staffed entrance booth directs traffic into different bays for dumping; trucks and trailers are common, and larger commercial rigs are handled alongside personal vehicles. The site looks industrial: piles of compacted material, loaders moving around, and long access roads to the tipping areas. Tipping fees are structured by weight and sometimes by material type, with different rates for small residential loads versus commercial ones.
