Vasco Road Sanitary Landfill is the big Livermore landfill where local residents and haulers bring trash to be buried - not a drop-off recycling center. Trucks of all sizes show up here, from pickups with trailers to full commercial rigs. The place looks industrial: scales, an entrance booth, and large working faces and dirt piles on the ridge.
Drive up to an entrance booth and be prepared to stop at a scale; tipping fees are charged by weight so expect another stop when leaving. After the scale there are lanes for different vehicle sizes and a clearing area where trucks line up to tip at the active face. The site is dusty and exposed on windy days, with heavy truck traffic and the usual landfill smells downwind. Weekends and spring-cleanup periods can back up the driveway, so lines are common then.
