(805) 925-0951 ext. 7270Santa Maria Regional Landfill is the big burial site for trash in Santa Maria, used by homeowners cleaning out garages and by commercial haulers dropping off loads. It's the kind of place where trucks and pickup loads line up, and most people end up going through a scale booth before they dump.
Drive up on East Main and you'll see an entrance booth and a vehicle scale - expect to stop to be weighed and then stop again after unloading. The facility is large and mostly open paved areas leading to working faces where garbage is buried; there are also areas for recyclables nearby in many California landfills. Fees are handled by weight, and commercial loads usually have different rates than residential ones. Weekends and spring clean-up times tend to be the busiest, so lines can form.
