(707) 433-5631This is the Republic Services transfer station on Alexander Valley Road in Healdsburg, used by local residents and small haulers who need to drop off trash and materials they don't want to drive all the way to a landfill. It’s the kind of place people swing by for household cleanouts or to get rid of bulky items that won’t fit in curb bins. Expect a working, no-frills facility rather than a park-like recycling center.
Drive up to an entrance booth and stop to be directed; there’s usually a scale for vehicle weighing so vehicles often stop twice - in and out. Vehicles pull up to different unloading pits or compactors depending on material, and there are often piles or containers where materials are sorted before being loaded out. The site is mostly paved with large roll-up doors and open bays; heavy trucks and compactors are common, and weekends can get busy with lines. Because this is California, recycling and organics separation is commonly required, so there will be separate areas or bins for different types of materials.
Learn how to properly dispose of common items.
