Potrero Hills Sanitary Landfill is the big landfill out on Potrero Hills Lane in Suisun City where construction trucks and residents with large cleanouts bring trash to be buried. It’s used when recycling and transfer stations aren’t the right fit, and it looks and feels like a working industrial site rather than a drop-off center.
Drive up to an entrance booth and a scale - most landfills charge by weight so expect to stop again on the way out. Large trucks, roll‑offs and heavy equipment are everywhere; follow the traffic flow and watch for dust and noise. There are open tipping areas and compacted piles rather than neat bins, so bring gloves and be ready to unload at a slope. Because California requires a lot of organics diversion, have any green or food waste separated before getting to the gate.
