Pinecrest Transfer Station

Pinecrest Dump Rd, Long Barn, CA 95335

(209) 965-3520

Pinecrest Transfer Station on Pinecrest Dump Rd in Long Barn is the small local spot people use when hauling a carload or two and don’t want to make the trip to a distant landfill. There’s an entrance booth and a scale up front, and the site compacts loads to be trucked out to a landfill elsewhere. It tends to attract folks doing cabin cleanouts and yard-work runs.

Drive up to the booth and be prepared to stop at the scale - vehicles often pause more than once while coming and going. Past the scale the lot opens to the tipping area where trucks and compactors move materials around; expect truck activity and backing maneuvers. Recyclables and organics are usually dropped off separate from the main trash area because of California rules, so look for separate bins or bays. Weekends, especially in spring cleanup season, can get backed up with a line of vehicles waiting to unload.

Before You Go

  • Sort recyclables and organics at home so unloading goes quicker and there’s less fumbling at the drop-off point.
  • Try to go early or on a weekday to avoid long weekend lines; spring and summer cleanups make the place noticeably busier.
  • Cover and secure loose loads and bring a helper for heavy items - narrow lanes and backing trucks make maneuvering and unloading easier with an extra set of hands.
