North County Sanitary Landfill on East Harney Lane is the big working dump out by Lodi - mostly used by residents with oversized loads and local haulers. Trucks, trailers and big piles of dirt dominate the place; it’s not scenic, it’s practical. People go there when the normal curbside service won’t take what they’ve got.
Drive up to a single entrance with a small booth and a scale; landfills of this type normally weigh incoming loads and again on the way out, so expect to stop more than once. After the booth there’s a yard with heavy equipment, compacted mounds and lanes for different truck sizes, and some recycling drop-off points are usually off to one side. The surface is dusty and uneven, with big trucks moving around-keep an eye on traffic and be ready to back up or wait. Larger commercial loads are common at sites like this, so expect to share space with roll-offs and tractor-trailers.
