(408) 574-3000Graniterock Capitol Recycling is a recycling center in San Jose that people from the neighborhood and nearby contractors use to drop off recyclable materials. Located on Granite Rock Way, it's the kind of place that handles a steady stream of car and truck traffic rather than curbside pickup.
Drive up to an entrance booth and be prepared to follow attendants who direct vehicles; there’s a scale nearby so trucks and larger loads usually stop twice. The site is an industrial yard with rows of roll-off bins and open tipping areas; smaller cars pull up to bins off to the right while larger trucks use the main apron. Expect to sort materials into common categories like paper and cardboard, metals, glass and hard plastics, and some centers here also run programs for electronics or bulky items. Weekends and spring cleanup times often have lines, so the whole process can take longer when it’s busy.
