Forward Landfill is the big landfill out on S. Austin Road in Manteca, used by homeowners cleaning out yards and by haulers with commercial loads. This is where trash that isn’t recycled or composted gets buried, so expect a working, industrial feel rather than anything tidy.
There’s an entrance booth and a drive-over scale - fees are charged by weight, so plan to stop on the way in and again on the way out. Pull into the lane the attendant directs and follow the larger trucks back to the tipping area; the site is mostly dirt, compacted fill piles and heavy equipment moving around. Expect lines on weekends and during spring cleanup, and be ready for a bit of dust and truck traffic while you wait.
