Chiquita Canyon Sanitary Landfill in Castaic is the large county landfill off Henry Mayo Drive where both residents and commercial haulers drop off loads. It’s the place people use when curbside pickup or local recycling won’t take something. From the road it looks like big dirt mounds and constant truck traffic, not a tidy transfer station.
There’s an entrance booth and a scale you’ll cross-tipping fees are charged by weight, so expect to stop again on the way out. Pull up at the booth and follow the line of trucks; commercial rigs and roll‑offs are common and the queue can move slowly. The tipping area is a big open face where trucks back up and dump, with cover soil and lots of dust around. Weekends and spring cleanup periods often mean longer lines and slower unloading.
