Calaveras County Rock Creek Landfill

12021 Hunt Rd, Farmington, CA 95230

(209) 754-6403

Small county landfill out on Hunt Road that serves residents and businesses around Farmington and the surrounding area. Mostly a working dump - used by people dropping off household trash, contractors with truckloads, and the occasional trailer full of yard debris. It’s the place to bring loads that need burial rather than recycling or composting.

Drive up to a manned entrance booth and be ready to stop on a scale so the load can be weighed; tipping fees are charged by weight rather than per vehicle. Large open tipping areas and compacted mounded cells are visible from the drop-off zone, and commercial trucks are regularly in and out. Recycling or separate organics stations are often located near the entrance road, and traffic can back up on busy weekends or spring clean-up days. Vehicles are directed to pull forward to the active trench or pad to offload, then return to the scale to weigh out and settle the fee.

Before You Go

  • Bring a tarp or straps to secure loose loads for the short drive and while waiting in line - windy days can throw trash everywhere.
  • Have a rough idea of how much material is being hauled; fees are weight-based so knowing load size helps avoid surprises.
  • If hauling heavy construction or commercial loads, use a truck or trailer with easy tipping access - maneuvering into the drop spot is simpler with a straightforward setup.
