Blythe Sanitary Landfill is the local buried-waste site serving Blythe and the surrounding area. Neighbors, landscapers and haulers use it for final disposal when recycling or drop-off options don't apply. The place is plainly a working dump - big mounds of compacted trash and heavy equipment are the main landmarks.
Drive in past a gate and an entrance booth where vehicles line up to be weighed on a scale before proceeding. The site is large and open, with separate traffic lanes for trucks and smaller vehicles; commercial rigs are common here. Loads are handled on a tipping pad and pushed into cells by bulldozers, so expect dust, noise and heavy equipment moving around. Recycling/organics separation is often required in California, so there are receptacles and sorting areas near the entrance and exit.
