(530) 926-1610Black Butte Transfer Recycle is Mount Shasta’s local recycling center for hauling stuff away that shouldn’t end up in the landfill. Neighbors and small haulers use it for dropping off the usual recyclables and bulky items that don’t fit in curbside bins.
Pull in off Spring Hill Road and look for an entrance booth and a row of roll-off bins and drop-off bays; there’s a lot of pavement and open space, not a fancy building. Common recyclables handled at centers like this include cardboard, mixed paper, glass, metals and many plastics, and county programs sometimes run special collection events for things like household hazardous materials or electronics. Bring items reasonably sorted if possible - the bins for cardboard and bottles are typically grouped together and large items go to separate areas. Weekends and spring-cleanup days get busy, so expect a line and a bit of waiting to get to the drop-off point.
