800-963-4776Altamont Landfill & Resource Recovery is the big landfill out on Altamont Pass Road that Livermore and nearby businesses use when trash can't be recycled or composted. Locals drop off both household and commercial loads here; it's the large burial site where material ends up after sorting and processing elsewhere. The place is busy, especially on weekends and during seasonal cleanups.
Drive up to a security/scale booth where incoming vehicles are weighed and recorded; you’ll stop once coming in and again on the way out since tipping fees are charged by weight. The site is expansive with rolling trash cells and machinery working the piles - it looks industrial rather than tidy. Recycling or green waste drop-offs are usually separated from the main landfill traffic, so watch for signs and people directing cars. Large commercial trucks are common, so expect some queuing and slower-moving traffic when they’re maneuvering.
