(870) 367-4407Small county transfer station used by Monticello residents and folks from surrounding rural areas. It's where local garbage gets compacted and loaded onto big trucks for hauling to a landfill elsewhere. People use it when driving straight to a distant landfill would take too long.
There’s typically an entrance booth and a scale near the driveway so trucks stop and are weighed as they come and go. Vehicles pull up to an unloading area where trash is dumped into a compactor or collection pit; expect a working-yard look with heavy equipment and piles of compacted refuse. Recycling or drop-off containers are often set to the side of the main drop area, and traffic can back up on busy weekends or during spring clean-up. Bring a vehicle that can navigate a gravel or paved yard and be ready for an extra stop at the scale before exiting.
