Fort Smith Sanitary Landfill is the city landfill out on Commerce Road where locals and haulers bring trash to be buried. It’s the kind of place contractors, landscapers and homeowners end up at when stuff can’t be recycled or hauled away with a pickup run.
There’s usually a small entrance booth and a scale out front; landfills like this commonly charge tipping fees by weight, so expect to stop at the scale in and again on the way out. Big dirt roads, piles of compacted material and heavy trucks moving around make the site feel industrial rather than tidy. Pull into the scale lane first, then follow the flow to the dumping area and back to the scale for final weigh-out.
