Craighead County Solid Waste Disposal Authority Landfill is the county landfill out on County Road 476 in Jonesboro, used by residents and haulers when curbside pickup won’t take something. As a landfill, this is where trash is buried; like most county sites there’s a scale and a tipping-fee setup, and fees and accepted materials can vary by load type.
Pull up to the entrance booth and you’ll be directed over a scale so charges are figured by weight, then pointed to the proper dumping area. The site is open and dusty with compacted cells and piles of brush or rubble off to the side; trucks and trailers are common. Recycling/drop-off bins are usually close to the entrance, and traffic piles up on weekends and during spring cleanup. Bring patience if a line has formed-unloading takes longer when crews or other large loads are on site.
