City of Hope Landfill sits off Highway 67 West and is where folks from Hope and the surrounding area take trash to be buried. Locals, haulers and commercial trucks use the site for final disposal. It’s the town landfill, plain and practical.
Drive up to a wide, open lot with heavy equipment moving piles of compacted material; there’s a scale and an entrance booth where vehicles stop to be weighed. Tipping fees are charged by weight, so expect to pay based on how much the truck or trailer tips on the scale and to stop again on the way out. Pull up to the booth and follow directions to the dumping area; commercial loads are handled differently than small residential loads and are generally accepted, though fees vary. The surface can be dusty or muddy depending on weather, and large trucks are constantly coming and going, so move slowly.
