Transfer Station

Quartzsite Transfer Station

Unnamed Road, Quartzsite, AZ 85346

Small transfer station just off the unnamed road in Quartzsite, used by residents hauling household trash and bulky items who don’t want to drive to a distant landfill. It’s a no-frills, industrial spot where loads get compacted on site and then trucked out to a landfill elsewhere.

Drive in to a gravel yard with an entrance booth and marked lanes; you’ll line up and wait your turn before pulling up to a roll-off box or compactor. The site looks like heavy equipment territory-big containers, compactors and frequent transfer trucks coming and going. There’s often dust and loose gravel underfoot, so slower speeds and careful backing are the norm. Recycling drop-offs, when present, tend to be off to one side rather than mixed in with the main dumping area.

Before You Go

  • Sort what can be separated before getting there - keeping bulky items apart from loose trash speeds unloading and reduces mess.
  • Bring a tarp and straps to keep things contained; wind and gravel can make uncovered loads messy on the way home.
  • Avoid weekend middays if possible; local cleanups and peak season can create long lines and extra waiting time.
