Northwest Regional Landfill

19401 West Deer Valley Road, Surprise, AZ 85387

Northwest Regional Landfill in Surprise is the big burial spot for household and commercial trash around this part of Arizona. Locals and haulers both use it; expect to see pickup trucks, trailers, and commercial roll-offs here on any given day.

A scalehouse sits near the entrance where vehicles are weighed and tipping fees are assessed by weight, so trucks usually stop twice - once in and once out. The site is wide open and dusty, surrounded by low berms and lined cells; steer slowly and watch for heavy equipment moving about. There’s a small booth at the driveway for check-in, and traffic can back up on busy weekend mornings or during spring cleanup. Recycling or drop-off bins tend to be off to one side, past the intake area.

Before You Go

  • Bring a tarp or secure load straps - local wind and the dry conditions can make loose debris fly off during the drive in.
  • Drive slowly and follow the directions of flaggers or signs; large trucks have the right of way and equipment can appear quickly.
  • Have a plan for where to unload before getting to the scale - dumping areas are spread out and walking back and forth with items wastes time.
