Transfer Station

Crit utilities transfer site

29550 AZ-95, Parker, AZ 85344

A small transfer station used by Quartzsite and surrounding desert communities for dropping off household and yard refuse before it’s compacted and hauled to a landfill. Sun-baked and practical, it’s the kind of place locals use when a full truckload makes driving to a distant landfill impractical.

Drive up to a single entrance with a little booth where attendants usually direct traffic; there’s often a scale to go over so expect to stop twice if weight is charged. The tipping area is concrete with large roll-off containers and a compacting machine; it looks utilitarian-dusty ground, tire tracks, and piles staged for loading. Recycling or drop-off bins are typically off to one side, and larger vehicles need to pull into a roomy lane to unload. Busy weekends and spring cleanup can mean a line, so allow extra time if hauling a big load.

Before You Go

  • Sort and tarp your load before getting to the booth so unloading goes faster and loose debris doesn’t blow away in the desert wind.
  • Wear sturdy shoes and gloves; the concrete pads and metal edges get hot and dusty under Arizona sun.
  • Bring help or a ramp if unloading heavy items-most people hand things down to a friend or use a small dolly to speed things along.
