Magnolia Landfill

15140 Co Rd 49, Summerdale, AL 36580

(251) 972-8574

Magnolia Landfill is the county-style landfill just off County Road 49 that people from Summerdale and surrounding areas use to drop off household and larger loads. It’s the place where trash gets buried rather than recycled or processed, so expect a working, dusty site rather than anything fancy. Locals, landscapers and contractors all use it when they need a final disposal spot.

The site looks like a typical rural landfill: an entrance booth/scale area, a short drive past the tip face, and large open cells where material is buried. There’s a vehicle scale on the way in and out - tipping fees are usually charged by weight, so vehicles get weighed. Pull up to the booth/scale as the first step, then drive to the active tipping area; surfaces can be gravel or packed dirt and will get dusty when it’s dry. Weekends and spring cleanup times tend to be busier, so lines at the scale are common.

Before You Go

  • Secure loads with a tarp or net-wind and passing trucks throw dust and debris around.
  • Bring work gloves and sturdy shoes; the tipping area can be uneven and muddy after rain.
  • Try mid-week mornings if possible; fewer pickups and shorter lines than weekend afternoons.
