Jefferson County Landfill No. 2 is the county landfill out on Narrows Road in Pinson, used by homeowners, landscapers and contractors hauling trash for burial. It’s a working landfill - big trucks, heavy equipment and piles of covered cells, not a tidy drop-off center.
There’s a small entrance booth and a scale; expect to stop at the scale and usually again on the way out since fees are weight-based at landfills. Drive slowly on gravel roads while following the traffic flow - large trucks and loaders move around the tipping areas. The tipping face is exposed and dusty, with equipment nearby, so keep clear of heavy machinery and watch for directions from any personnel. Bring a vehicle that can maneuver on uneven surfaces; backing up to the tip area is common for pickups and trailers.
