Advanced Disposal National AccounTransfer Station is the transfer station off Rocky Ridge Road that people from Vestavia Hills and nearby parts of Birmingham use when they don't want to drive all the way to a landfill. It’s the kind of place where neighborhood pickups, old furniture runs, and yard-cleanup loads end up getting compacted and sent off-site.
Drive in off Rocky Ridge and you’ll see an entrance booth and a scale-vehicles usually stop there on the way in or out. The site is industrial: big concrete pits or a covered tipping area, heavy trucks maneuvering, and a compactor or roll-off trucks nearby. Pull up to the drop-off point indicated by attendants or signs, tip or unload into the pit, and then leave via the exit scale. Weekends, especially in spring, often have more cars and a short line to get onto the property.
